Whether you’re six weeks postpartum or six years, this is the workshop for you! Post-pregnancy, the abdominal muscles and hips can benefit from integrative poses and movements to get rocking again. In this 60-minute workshop, we’ll discuss the changes your abs and hips have undertaken, and then we’ll move through a series of useful core-engagement activities and hip strengtheners to reawaken the ability of your body. And if you have tight and tired shoulders, we'll show you useful ways to find relief. You’ll leave with a handout of movements you can do on your own at home to continue your strengthening journey. Join Pilates and yoga instructor Alexandra DeSiato and prenatal yoga instructor Lauren Sacks (both mamas and creators of Whole Mama Yoga) for a workshop that will get you feeling a bit more like the old you!
The seat, the fanny, the booty: whatever you want to call it, the glutes are an important part of strength, balance, and a pain-free body. For many of us, though, the glutes can shut down or become overshadowed by other muscles in the body—this is especially the case when we sit for many hours of our workdays. When the glutes work less efficiently (or not at all), the result can be tight or pinchy hip flexors, overworked quads, and low-back pain. This workshop includes a quick anatomical overview, glutes activation assessment, and a practice that focuses on movements that can awaken and strengthen the glutes for better balance and a pain-free body. Participants will leave with new knowledge of how to activate the glutes and with a handout for a glutes-focused sequence that will continue to strengthen this important group of muscles. For all levels of yoga and Pilates students.
